Well...that was a whole lot of nothing. Name change, tutorials, and some synth stuff.. does that cover “everything”?

Well...that was a whole lot of nothing. Name change, tutorials, and some synth stuff.. does that cover “everything”? Nope. You forgot SnapHeap. Looks like it's the Slate version of VMR for the more EDM oriented crowd. Seems like a pretty significant addition considering that there's a generation of musicians out there that have no idea or could care less about emulation of classic gear. I liked the marketing. While everything didn't change, "Everything" did.

Much ado about nothing...they changed the name...added a few plugs etc...ugh...I’m seriously rethinking my everything subscription. I already own half the plugins outright. We’ll see...

Not sure what there is to complain about. New plugins and a synth. For free.

Not sure what there is to complain about. New plugins and a synth. For free. Well, kind of.. You still pay a subscription price. I just updated Logic and got a free DeEsser. Well, free-"er." I guess it isn't totally free because I paid for it eight years before it existed. Every time Logic puts out an update, I always pinch myself.

Pffttthhh…
I hate subscriptions. Haven't bought anything from Slate since he started that.

Pffttthhh… I hate subscriptions. Haven't bought anything from Slate since he started that. Same here. There’s only a couple Slate plugins I’m interested in and it seems like they don’t even try to price them competitively since he started the subscription thing. Just trying to force the subscription on us. Guess i’ll just have to buy from the other 85 plugin companies.

I must have just timed it right because I never purchased a Slate plugin. I signed up for a yearly Everything Bundle subscription maybe two or three years ago and I've gotten my money's worth. I'm still happy with the product, but the way I see it Steven has to add stuff and keep it on the cutting edge in order to keep getting my money. Between a few Logic upgrades, some hardware purchases and a few other plugins I've picked up over the last few years - I'm only a handful of plugins away from not needing it.

I no longer have the everything bundle, but I find it hard to see this as a negative. Esp after Avids latest announcement.
If you don't like it opt out. If you only need a few plugins buy them (this is what i have done). It cool to hate on slate (some of it probably deserved) but he is giving the audio community competitive deals and making other companies more competitive in the process.

I don't know that anyone is really hating on Slate (I'm not), so much as hating on the marketing. I've defended him many times. Having met him in person I can say he's a really nice guy, very pleasant and very enthusiastic, and in a genuine, non-car-salesmen way. But then you get this very car salesmen-ish pitch of "everthing" is changing, alluding to some huge change. And it just pans out to be a name change. Everything else (slate academy, new plugins, VST) is really just par for the course (they're constantly adding plugins and features etc).
So yeah...anyways, I'm one of those that is looking to offload my everything bundle. I have it paid off for the next 6 months so I figure if I find some good black friday deals to replace Repeater I'll be pretty much set since I so many of the Slate plugins outright.

Some of us may forget that SS is in competition with other brands who do agessive marketing as well. He needs to be one step forward all the time.

As much as I religiously use certain plugs in the E Bundle, there are just too many alternatives out there. Agreed. I'd purchase the VCC and then get out!

Perhaps in the future, you'll just "subscribe" to the bundle when you're actually using the software. You'll pay by the minute/hour instead of the month/year.
Hey, Slate never did upgrade the FG-X mastering limiter, did they? I liked the metering on that, and a touch of the compressor. Distorted pretty quick tho.

Sounds to me they got out of using the word "Everything" - so they can start charging for some stuff separately again... It's still a damn good deal if you're using his stuff.

epic is the new cla waves ad on youtube where he is literally mixing in a virtual reality... had to recheck the mushrooms from dinner to make sure I hadn't been dosed! Was that the master class that's an hour or so long? Came out in 2017? I watched some of that, mixing ITB, and learned some things about gain staging plugins as if you were doing real analog gear. Like gain staging an SSL channel plugin with a snare so it just hits the peak LED on the plug, which would be about 0 VU, because that's where the plugin sounds the best. Several times CLA gained tracks up or down so they hit plugins where he wanted them, rather than do it in the plugin itself.
