The reissue U67, the H47 tube and the Upton 251, Sounds like the new triumverant of microphones. And they'll all be in my locker by the end of the year too. I’d have to have a hit to do that. Man that would be a nice set of mics to have. I’d love to do something similar, but I’d need to nab some big work to do it too.

So if John were to stream only stuff he has written 24/7 on every device in the hous it would take what 100 years to pay for the new mic and that wouldn’t include the cost of internet or electricity! This is why the original working title for the new songwriter competition reality series was So You Think You Want to Starve!

Depends on the streaming source, but I consistently get over 1M streams a quarter from youtube, and it's just around a hundred bucks. So unless minimum wage has fallen to $200 a month, working at McD's will net you significantly m0re than being a songwriter.

By that, I mean that 4 million streams a year equals $100. I'll say it again, that is absolutely fucking insane.

I’m willing to give Spotify and Tidal a little bit of a pass for now since they’re not profitable yet, but Google is one of the most profitable companies in the world and they pay waaaay less per stream than Spotify, Tidal, or anyone as far as I know.

I would LOVE to talk streaming piracy...so let’s start a thread in off topic or industry or whatever. Let’s keep this one about microphones.

I’m curious as to what transformer the mic uses, although I understand if you want to keep it under wraps.

I’m curious as to what transformer the mic uses, although I understand if you want to keep it under wraps. My understanding is they have Cinemag making a version of the BV-08 for them recordinghacks.com/microphones/Neumann/U-47 But tskguy or mdmitch2 would probably be able to speak more accurately about the Heiserman 47 Choob mic. Or Dave Wheeler, as he is also an important member of the team.

P.S. with all the talk of revisions, I'm hoping they have the 'magic GACK' in it.

Ward beat me to it, but I’ll say this about these guys, they don’t use Cinemag, because of who they are, they use them because they sound great in their mics. These guys don’t care about brand names they care about tone.

We actually landed on a custom BV08 that won out over every option we tested.. And we tried AMI,Cinemag,Haufe and a few others. It's really the best option with our internal component choices and capsule. Honestly I really feel that the time and care regarding every aspect of this mic is going to set it apart. No one is going to be disappointed. Especially at this price point.
