None of the 47 style microphone manufacturers, are using a true original NOS VF-14M anyway. Right? (yes I'm being rhetorical here) IMHO that's a certain "leveling" of the playing field, from a logical perspective. Besides, as heinous as it sounds, I suppose it's "possible" to find an even better Mic/Tube combo... That's even better-if its possible-Than the original VF-14! (putting Flack Jacket on now) Chris

IMHO I think these later (after the original U47) 47 style designs, have to be looked at... From a holistic point of view. To name just one example, Ward has a deep understanding of how various tubes combinations, can affect a given microphone. And how replacements can be comparable, and sometimes superior, to the manufacturers original stock tube. Chris P.S. Mere enthusiast/not expert here Otis. You could very well have a deeper understanding of all this than me!

Neumann replaced a lot of VF14m w/ nuvistor tubes which I believe were triode where the VF14m was a steel tube pentode wired as a triode to achieve XYZ ( above my pay grade ) Prob lower noise & improve headroom + dynamics ( maybe it’s similar w/ cancelling noise like balanced vs unbalanced cables lol )
The Flea tube is made by Andreas Grosser called EF ER 12. & That & the Tfunk are tubes in some type of encapsulation to appear like VF14m. None of them are real VF14M & dont run the same bias voltage? .
Flea has been caught multiple times swapping these EF12 ERs into ppl’s mics but telling them they are getting steel tube EF12s 🥴

So... I have a question. U47 is synonymous with the VF14 tube, so much so that they are going for like 4 grand online, while I can appreciate the Heiserman H47T is a great microphone, how could it nail (like better than Flea, Telefunken) the signature U47 sound with a completely different tube? I listened to the blackbird clips on their website. They both sound great but I wish those clips had been RAW. It'd be much easier to hear whats really going on. All I could really tell was the Heiserman had alot more 6-7k information and the Neumann was perhaps a bit tighter of a sound. That signature 47 proximity effect up front thing. If anyone has any RAW clips of comparison against a Telefunken or vintage I'd be very anxious to hear. I don't know 'how' either! I tried both the H47T/hk47 and a fantastic U47 at the dearly departed 'Tracking Room' in Nashville last summer. It's freaking spooky. It's like you were trying out two mics from the same production line. Sure, they varied but not by much!

EF800 is a completely different tube than the VF14 or the VF14 replicas made by Telefunken A pair of RCA 408 tubes (of which only one is being used by the way) inside a VF14 metal housing sounds NOTHING like a VF14. Next! An EF series metal housing tube is not a VF series, let alone a VF14 or a VF14m. But there are similarities. FLEA certainly knows what they're doing. [/div][/quote] Just like Heiserman did. And with wave Dave and tskguy Eric eyes and teeth into it, and with a whole bunch of amazing engineers and producers weighing in on making it sound right? They did it. Is the U47 sound for everyone? Nope. I don't like it on my own voice or a bunch of others. The 'mask' and the 9.86khz resonant frequency drive me nuts . . . granted, it's a short drive. But when it works, it works better than anything else. Absolutely LOVE it with the K47 capsule on baritone voices and with the M7 capsule on alto voices. I hope I've been helpful.

Further to that, a person with whom I find myself aurally alike, recently had a wonderful thing to say . . . Thank you, drbill - that was a great review!!

I ordered one of these last week. It sounds amazing from all the demos I've heard, especially the ones here. I have a couple messages in to Heiserman to please add a second headbasket to the order, but I have not heard from them since I first reached out Friday. Hopefully they are too busy carefully constructing capsules!

To me, it's as far away mentally as Musikmesse. I'm a Winter NAMM native, so it wasn't on my radar at all. I try to never presume a reason for a communication delay cause there is almost always a good reason like this one. Thanks, Eric.

No we didn’t have a booth, but we did have a Type-19 at the Locomotive booth, and I believe Dave made an appearance.
We are generally very busy though, and sometimes emails take a couple business days. We recently moved into a larger workshop and working on training some help.

I have an order in for an H47t. Can’t wait to hear it. I’ve never spent that much on a piece of gear, but I should get all my favorite local (vaccinated) vocalists over once I have it in hand.

Just a heads up for RGO folks -- the long awaited price increase is finally happening on Saturday 8/7. As we've mentioned before, our costs have steadily been increasing since we released the mic, and we're also moving sales to a dealer network in the US and abroad. heisermanaudio.com/products/h47tubeThanks to everyone on RGO for helping to spread the word about our mics -- it really makes a huge difference!!

Guh. I have the full payment down for an H47fet... assuming the batch hasn't been finished/shipped, should I just move that towards the H47tube?
(I'd probably need to sell off a few other mics afterwards.)

Greetings!! As we've noted on our website for several months, we're planning to increase the price on the H47tube to $3,800. Our costs have been steadily increasing since the mic was released, and we're also in the process of transitioning sales to a network of trusted dealers in the US and abroad. If you'd like to place an order at the current price of $3,199 (with $500 deposit), please submit your order by Friday 8/6.
Thanks to all of our customers who have helped to make this mic a tremendous success!!
Note, the current lead time for new orders is 8-10 weeks.

Lead time is 8-10 weeks right now. As long as you order before the 7th, it's the $3200 price. It's a $500 deposit to reserve one at that price.
edit: kcat beat me to it!
